Made slowly, intentionally and using what already exists.
I have always been drawn to making things with my hands - especially transforming forgotten materials into something beautiful and new. Like rag rugs woven from old scraps of fabric, vests crocheted from thrifted yarn and even furniture for my home made from old hardwood fencing.
Sewing also connects me to the women who came before me. My mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sisters have all created with their hands, each carrying their own creativity and resourcefulness. When I sew, there are moments I feel deeply connected to that lineage - as though I am sharing in something passed from woman to woman over generations. In many ways, Wildflower Folk is not only about creating clothing, but about honouring that creative spirit and keeping those stories, skills and traditions alive through my own hands.
Over time I have become increasingly aware of the impact the fast fashion industry has on Mother Earth. Millions of garments are produced every year, worn briefly, and then discarded into landfill.
The speed of this cycle disconnects us from the true value of clothing and the resources and many hands it takes to create them.
About Wildflower Folk
wildflower folk
Instead of producing new fabric, I work with reclaimed textiles - second-hand garments, donated fabrics, and forgotten materials.
Giving them new life through thoughtful design.
Our Values
What we stand for
This work is also a personal rebellion against the pressure to move faster, produce more, and treat creativity like a race.
I believe we are NOT the centre of the universe, and that to truly thrive we must learn to live in symbiosis with everything around us - plant, animals, people and the Earth itself.
When we begin to live more gently and more consciously, we connect with the rhythms of life that sustain us.
The name Wildflower Folk comes from the spirit of the wildflowers.
Wildflowers grow freely, outside of a system and control.
They are untamed, resilient, and beautifully imperfect.
Each one grows in its own way, shaped by the land around it.
In many ways they remind me of the kind of life I believe we are meant to live - one that is creative, authentic and connected.
It’s about slowing down.
Learning skills with our hands again. Mending what we already have. Growing food, making things, sharing knowledge, and reconnecting with community.
It’s about remembering that true fulfilment doesn’t come from perfection, but from individuality, authenticity, care, creativity and learning step by step to live more intentionally.
